Business hours during Golden Week

This is the notification regarding our business hours during 2020 Golden Week. Golden Week is a holiday week in Japan which is from the end of April to early May.
Under the declaration of a state of emergency responding to the spread of COVID-19
On April 7, 2020, responding to the COVID-19 epidemic spreads, the Japanese government declared a state of emergency. In accordance with the policies and requests of the central and prefectural governments, financial institutions in the areas designated in the state of emergency declaration are required to prevent the spread of infections.
Under these circumstances, it may be difficult to connect to our English online live chat sometimes. And please note that some of the operations may take longer than usual.

English online banking
The service will be available as usual.
Service will not be available every Monday from 2:00 am to 5:00 am due to the system maintenance. However, on May 4, 2020, you will not be available from 1:00 am to 5:00 am due to extended maintenance.

Will be available as usual.

Postal mails (cash card delivery, etc.) & Account opening
Postal mail delivery and account opening procedure will not be available on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays. Therefore, it may cause delays in cash card delivery during Golden Week.
The "Open Account" app is available as usual.

If you apply for account opening on or after Thursday, April 30, 2020 ⇒ Cash card will be delivered on or after Thursday, May 7, 2020.

Foreign currency deposit
Trading foreign currency at Sony Bank is available 24 hours a day except during system maintenance and during times shown below. During these times, buying or selling foreign currency and canceling foreign currency savings account are not available.

Outgoing foreign currency remittance
You can apply for both pre-registration and Outgoing foreign currency remittance anytime, 24 hours a day. However, please be advised that your application can be verified and processed during only business hours.
The pre-registration takes 3 to 10 business days to be processed after application.
In general, the Outgoing foreign currency remittance will be completed in 2 to 5 business days from the date of application.
- There will be a verification process for pre-registration, therefore the process may take some time depending on the details of the application. Please allow yourself enough time for the application to be completed.
- In case the date of Outgoing foreign currency remittance falls on the bank holidays of the country where the funds are remitted to, it may take more than 5 business days until the remittance is made.

Incoming foreign currency remittance
You can complete the procedure on receiving Incoming foreign currency 24 hours a day. However, procedures or verification from Sony Bank is only available during business hours.
Once you have completed the procedure on receiving Incoming foreign currency, the fund will be deposited to your account after the verification process is completed.
