1. Partner ATMs in Japan

With your Sony Bank WALLET, you can use any of the approximately 90,000 partner ATMs located around Japan to deposit or withdraw Japanese yen. However, it's not possible to use foreign currencies at partner ATMs in Japan.

Sony Bank doesn't charge additional service fees after business hours; such as at night, or during weekends or bank holidays.

Depositing cash at partner ATMs is always free.

Cash withdrawal

Withdrawing Japanese yen from partner ATMs costs 110 yen (consumption tax included) per time. However, you can enjoy fee-waived withdrawals, depending on your Club S level.

The deposit amount is unlimited, while the withdrawal amount is limited to 2 million yen per day. You can easily set your daily maximum withdrawal amount via our Online banking.

Card direction at partner ATMs in Japan

Please insert your Sony Bank WALLET into the ATM card reader, with the IC chip facing up and pointing away from the machine.

If you insert the card in the wrong direction, you'll receive an error messaging telling you that the card can't be used. Please reverse the direction of the card and try again.

2. Overseas ATMs

With your Sony Bank WALLET, you can withdraw local currency at ATMs marked with "VISA" and/or "PLUS" in more than 200 countries and regions around the world. The amount is immediately withdrawn from your foreign currency savings account or exchanged from your yen savings account. For more information, please check below:

ATM service fees

The fees below are the ones you will be charged for ATM usage outside Japan. The fees differ depending on whether you have an account in the local currency or not.

Local currency account with balance

If you have an account with balance in the local currency (*1) you wish to withdraw, the amount of local currency will be debited from your foreign currency savings account.

The fees are:

• 1.79% processing fee (consumption tax included) per overseas ATM usage
• Local ATM fee (*3)

Local currency account without balance

If you have an account in the local currency (*1), but not enough balance, you can still withdraw money. The insufficient amount of local currency will be exchanged directly from your yen savings account.

The fees are:

• 1.79% processing fee (consumption tax included) per overseas ATM usage
• Sony Bank foreign exchange fee
• Local ATM fee (*3)

Without a local currency account

Even if you don't have an account in the local currency, or use a currency not supported by Sony Bank WALLET(*1), you can still withdraw at an ATM outside Japan, as the entire amount of local currency will be exchanged from your yen savings account.

The fees are:

• Visa foreign exchange fee
• 1.79% processing fee (consumption tax included) per overseas ATM usage
• 220 yen overseas ATM usage fee (*2)
• Local ATM fee (*3)

• (*1) The local currencies for which you can have an account are US Dollar, Euro, British Pound, Australian Dollar, New Zealand Dollar, Canadian Dollar, Swiss Franc, Hong Kong Dollar, South African Rand, and Swedish Krona.
• (*2) The overseas ATM usage fee might be refunded depending on your Club S level. To learn more about Club S benefits, please check Club S.
• (*3) The local ATM might charge additional fees, which are set by the ATM provider and may vary depending on the installation organization and location.

Cash withdrawal limit outside Japan

The amount you can withdraw at overseas ATMs is initially limited to 100,000 yen per day and 200,000 yen per month (both changeable between 0 and 1 million yen).
