Terms And Conditions Of Handling Of Account Activity Circumstances Concerning Dormant Deposit Utilization Act
- Article 1 - Purpose
- These Terms and Conditions set forth the account activity circumstances and the most recent account activity date, etc. concerning the deposits, etc. as specified in Article 2 hereof as they relate to the Act on Utilization of Funds Related to Dormant Deposits to Promote Public Interest Activities by the Private Sector (“Dormant Deposit Utilization Act”).
The customer shall conduct deposit, etc. transactions after confirming that these Terms and Conditions constitute the details of the account activity circumstances and the most recent account activity date, etc., related to the Dormant Deposit Utilization Act. - Article 2 - Scope of Application
- Term “deposits, etc.” used in these Terms and Conditions (“Deposit(s), etc.”) shall mean the following.
- Yen savings account
- Yen time deposit account
- Yen installment time deposit accounts
- Article 3 - Account Activity Circumstances Under Dormant Deposit Utilization Act
- Concerning the Deposits, etc., the Company shall treat the following as the account activity circumstances under the Dormant Deposit Utilization Act.
- changes in the amount of money deposited in the account due to a withdrawal, deposit, reception of remitted money, payment by remittance, account transfer, or other activity (excluding any activity related to the Company’s payment of interest on the Deposits, etc.);
- presentation of a draft or check, or any other payment request by a third party (to the extent that the Company is able to recognize such payment request);
- receipt of a request from the customer (including guardian of an adult or minor, assistant, curator, agent, successor, and special agent) to provide any of the following information concerning the Deposits, etc. (only in such a case where the Deposits, etc. are subject to the public notice (“Public Notice”) as specified in the Dormant Deposit Utilization Act);
- information on whether the Deposits, etc. are subject to the Public Notice
- information on the address where notices are received pursuant to the Dormant Deposit Utilization Act, before the Public Notice is given
- receipt by the customer of the following information, in whole or in part, through the use of Internet banking provided by the Company;
- name of the Company and the name of the branch where the Deposits, etc. are kept
- type of the Deposits, etc.
- account number and other information necessary for identifying the Deposits, etc.
- name of the holder of the account where the Deposits, etc. are kept
- amount of the principal in the Deposits, etc.
- request and receipt by the customer of a cash card or other type of card;
- request by the customer to issue a password reset code for changing its log-in password, etc. and the Company’s issuance of the password reset code; and
- occurrence of any of the circumstances listed in the preceding paragraphs in connection with the customer’s other Deposits, etc.
- Article 4 - Most Recent Account Activity Date, etc. Pursuant to the Dormant Deposit Utilization Act

- The term “most recent account activity date, etc.” under the Dormant Deposit Utilization Act as it pertains to the Deposits, etc. shall mean one of the following dates, which comes last:
- the date on which any of the account activity circumstances as set forth in Article 3 hereof occurs last;
- the date on which one of the circumstances as set forth in the following paragraph is expected to occur if a right of claim is expected to be exercised on the Deposits, etc. in the future as specified in the following paragraph;
- the date on which the Company issues a notice to the customer pursuant to the Dormant Account Utilization Act; provided, however, that the notice must have reached the customer or one month must have passed from the issuance of the notice (excluding cases where the notice issued by the Company is returned not through the customer’s intent by the date that comes one month after the notice issuance or the date that the Company notifies the Deposit Insurance Corporation of Japan of in advance, whichever comes later); or
- the date on which the Deposits, etc. are deemed as deposits, etc. pursuant to the Dormant Deposit Utilization Act.
- The term “circumstances where a right of claim is expected to be exercised on the Deposits, etc. in the future” specifically means the following circumstances only, and the term “date on which a right of claim is expected to be exercised on the Deposits, etc.” means the date as specified below, depending on what the applicable circumstance is:
- the last day of the deposit period, calculation period, or redemption period (or the first maturity date if it is a deposit to be renewed automatically);
- any of the account activity circumstances as specified in Article 3 hereof has been arisen after the initial maturity date: the date on which the said circumstances arose;
- any payment concerning the Deposits, etc. has become subject to suspension due to the applicable law or regulation, or an order, measure, or contract: the date on which the said payment suspension is lifted;
- a compulsory execution, provisional attachment, or disposition for being delinquent on national tax payment (including any disposition as governed by the same rules as the disposition of national tax delinquency) has been enforced against the Deposits, etc.: the date on which the procedure of the said enforcement is terminated;
- an acceptance of remittance, account transfer, or other account activity is or was scheduled pursuant to the applicable law, regulation, or contract (subject to the Company being able to know such incoming or outgoing money transfer schedule): the day on which the said account activity occurs, or it is determined that the said account activity will not occur; or
- any of the circumstances listed in the preceding items arises in connection with the customer’s other Deposits, etc.: the date of the most recent activity, etc. concerning the said other Deposits, etc.
- The term “most recent account activity date, etc.” under the Dormant Deposit Utilization Act as it pertains to the Deposits, etc. shall mean one of the following dates, which comes last:
- Article 5 - Substitute Money for Dormant Deposits, etc.

- If the customer’s right of claim to the Deposits, etc. is extinguished pursuant to the Dormant Deposit Utilization Act, the deposit contract pertaining to the Deposits, etc. will be terminated, and the customer will instead own the right of claim to the substitute money for the dormant deposits, etc. against the Deposit Insurance Corporation of Japan.
- If the event as described in the preceding paragraph occurs, the customer will be entitled to request payment based on his/her right of claim to the substitute money for the dormant deposits, etc. concerning the Deposits, etc., through the Company.
- These Terms and Conditions shall continue to remain effective even if the deposit contract is terminated pursuant to paragraph 1 above.
- Article 6 - Mutatis Mutandis Application of Other Terms and Conditions
- To the matters not described in these Terms and Conditions, the Company’s other terms and conditions for each transaction shall apply. The Company’s terms and conditions are available on its website.
- Article 7 - Modification of these Terms and Conditions

- The Company may modify these Terms and Conditions and other conditions in the event that changes in financial situations or other reasonable grounds are deemed. The Company will provide notification of the modification by posting relevant information on its website or by other appropriate means.
- The modifications in the preceding paragraph shall be applied from the commencing date of application set forth at the Company's notification, etc.
