Outline of Shopping Insurance (Personal Property Comprehensive Insurance)

The following is an outline of the Shopping Insurance (Personal Property Comprehensive Insurance). Please note that the actual payment of insurance claims will be determined based on the general insurance terms and conditions or special contracts for the Movables Comprehensive Insurance. Please also note that the contents of this insurance service are subject to change without prior notice.

In the event the Products are received by delivery, the term "upon purchase" shall be deemed to be replaced with "upon arrival of the Products to the Member."

Cases in which insurance payments will be made

In the event that a product purchased by the Card Member using the Sony Bank WALLET suffers losses due to accidental damage, theft, fire or other contingent incidents within the coverage period from the date of purchase.

Amount of payment of insurance benefits

The purchase amount of the product (if repairable, the lower of the repair amount or the purchase amount) as stated on the credit card receipt or the receipt from the store of purchase, minus the copayment amount.

Major cases where insurance benefits are not paid

  • Damage caused by willful misconduct or gross negligence or violation of laws and regulations of the insured person or its legal representative.
  • In case a person other than the insured or the legal representative of such person is entitle to receive all or part of the insurance amount, damage caused by willful misconduct or gross negligence or violation of laws and regulations of such person or the legal representative of such person will not be covered. However, the insurance will be paid for the amount to be received by the other party.
  • Damage caused by wind, rain, snow, hail, dust, or other similar elements blowing into or leaking into the building. Provided, however, that the insurance will be covered in case the exterior of the building in which the Subject Matter of Insurance is stored (i.e. exterior walls, roof, openings, etc.) is damaged caused by wind, hail, snow, or unforeseen and unexpected and insured object is damaged caused by blowing into the interior of the building from the damaged area.
  • Damage caused, whether directly or indirectly, by war, the use of force by a foreign state, revolution, seizure of power, civil war, armed rebellion, or other similar incident or insurrection (meaning a situation in which the peace of the people is seriously impaired in all or part of the country and is considered to be grave for the maintenance of public order due to the actions of a multitude or a group of people).
  • Damage caused by the radioactive, explosive or other harmful properties of nuclear fuel materials (including spent fuel; hereinafter the same shall apply) or objects contaminated by nuclear fuel materials (including nuclear fission products), or damage resulting from accidents incidental to these properties. Any other damage caused by or incidental to radiation exposure or radioactive contamination.
  • Damage caused by willful act of a person entrusted with the use or management of the Subject Matter of Insurance or a relative who lives with the insured person. Provided, however, that in the event the insured does not intend to obtain the insurance benefits shall be paid the insurance benefits.
  • Damage caused by earthquake, volcanic eruption, or tsunami caused thereby.
  • Damage caused, whether directly or indirectly, by the exercise of public authority by the state or a public entity, such as seizure, confiscation, expropriation, or destruction. Provided, however, the insurance will be paid if the damage is caused as a result of measures necessary for fire fighting or evacuation.
  • Damage caused, whether directly or indirectly, by a defect in the Subject Matter of Insurance. Provided, however, that the insurance benefits will be paid for damage caused by a defect that could not have been discovered even with due care by the policyholder, the insured, or the person managing the object of insurance on their behalf.
  • Damage caused, whether directly or indirectly, by natural wear and tear or deterioration. Damage caused by swelling, mold, discoloration, alteration, rust, decay, corrosion, erosion, cracking, peeling, surface crumbling, fermentation or natural heat generation due to the nature of the product. Damage caused by rats, insects etc.
  • Damage caused by incidents of loss or misplacement.
  • Damage caused by an electrical or mechanical accident to the Subject Matter of Insurance which is not directly caused by an external accident. Provided, however, that in the event of fire (excluding scorching damage) or bursting or explosion due to any of these accidents, the insurance benefits shall be paid.
  • Damage caused by negligence or inappropriate skills in the course of repairing or cleaning the Subject Matter of Insurance. Provided, however, that the insurance benefits shall be paid for any fire, bursting, or explosion caused by any of these reasons.
  • Damage caused by or incidental to floods, snowmelt, storm surges, landslides (such as earth slides, mud slides, sediment flows or earth avalanches, excluding fallen rocks), or flood disaster due to fallen rocks resulting from typhoons, storms, heavy rains, etc.
  • Damage caused by fraud or embezzlement.
  • In the event that the Subject Matter of Insurance has been processed, damage that occurs after the commencement of processing provided, however, that for damage not directly caused by processing or manufacturing from the commencement of processing to the completion of processing, insurance benefits will be paid only for fire, stroke of lightning, burst/explosion, wind disaster, hail, snow disaster, ballistic/falling fragment from outside, flooding, disturbance, labor disputes, and theft.
  • Damage to vacuum tubes, light bulbs, and other tubes and bulbs caused independently.
  • Abrasions, scratches, peeling off of paint, distortions, deflections, dents, and other external damage or defacement that may normally occur in the normal use or management of the Subject Matter of Insurance, and which do not involve loss or degradation of the function of the Subject Matter of Insurance.
  • Damage caused by shoplifting or other theft by persons who did not unlawfully enter the place of storage. However, this does not apply if the person assaults or threatens to assault.
  • Damage due to shortage of quantity found during inspection or inventory. Provided, however, that the damage is caused by theft by a third party who has unlawfully entered the premises, insurance benefits will be paid.
  • Damage caused by clerical and accounting errors, such as errors in the delivery of the insured object.
  • Damage caused by downgrading (a decline in the value of the Subject Matter of Insurance).
  • Damage caused by the cutting of strings (including piano wire), breakage of the percussion skin, or change in tone or sound quality of the musical instrument insured.
  • Damage Caused by Acts of Self-Relief, etc.
  • Damage caused only to goods, products, raw materials, etc. covered by the insurance due to power outage or abnormal supply for less than one hour.
  • Damage caused by contamination with foreign substances, loss of purity, chemical change, or deterioration in quality.
  • Damage caused by epilation.
  • If the Subject Matter of Insurance is an agricultural vehicles or equipment, damage caused only to glass sections, belts, rubber tires, caterpillars, teeth or jaws of excavators, buckets, forks, etc.
  • Damage caused by changes in temperature or humidity, or by dryness of the air or lack of oxygen. Provided, however, that in the event the Subject Matter of Insurance is frozen, refrigerated, or heat-insulated items, insurance benefits will be paid for only damage caused by temperature changes due to accidental physical damage to the frozen, refrigerated, or heat-insulated equipment and devices, or by fire, lightning, rupture, or explosion on the same premises, and if the equipment and devices cease to function for at least one hour.
  • Damage caused while the Subject Matter of Insurance is under the ground or water, or while floating in the air.
  • Damage solely caused to consumables.
  • If airfare is included in the repair cost, the cost is increased by air transportation.

Major products not eligible for insurance benefits payment

  • Bills, notes, checks and other securities, cash, stamps, postage stamps, tickets (railroad and ship tickets, airplane tickets, and commuter tickets), as well as accommodation tickets, sightseeing tickets, travel tickets, travel checks, prepaid cards, and all other types of tickets
  • Manuscripts, designs, drawings, deeds, account books, and other similar items
  • Ships (including hovercraft, yachts, motorboats, watercraft, boats and canoes), aircraft (including helicopters and airships), automobiles, motorcycles, snowmobiles, go-karts and related accessories
  • Motorized bicycles, bicycles, hang gliders, paragliders, surfboards, sailing boards, windsurfing, skis, snowboards and related accessories (including wheels and car navigation systems)
  • Radio-controlled models and related accessories
  • Portable communication devices such as cell phones, PHS, pagers, portable navigation systems, etc., and portable electronic office equipment such as laptops, word processors, tablet devices, wearable devices, etc., and related accessories
  • Dentures, artificial limbs, contact lenses, eyeglasses, and other similar items
  • Animals and plants
  • Groceries
  • Calligraphy and paintings, antiques, sculptures, precious metals, gems, jewels, and other works of art
  • Real estate
  • Digital software data
  • Items used for business
  • Where the purchase price of a single item of the Subject Matter of Insurance (including accessories shall be deemed as one item) is less than 10,000 yen (including consumption tax)

In principle, in case of total loss, we will collect the purchased product.
Original insurance claim documents are required for documents labeled "Required" and "May be required." Documents labeled "May be required" may not be required based on your circumstances. For more details, please contact the accident reception desk.
When making a theft claim, if the police do not issue a theft report certificate, you will need a theft report receipt number.
In principle, a receipt (confirming the date of arrival of the goods) is required for any damage to goods after delivery.
